Like most brand-name products, Apple’s AirPods are very expensive, and not in everyone’s price range. You might have found yourself wondering “Are fake AirPods good?”, or at least, an acceptable alternative.
As you probably know, there are always going to be knock-off versions of literally every brand-name product out there. Some times, the knock-off versions are better than the originals, although that’s rare.
Most blatant rip-offs are removed from online stores due to copyright issues but there are still quite a few that sneak through.
Let’s explore that a little bit.
Are Fake AirPods Good?
Fake AirPods are good for listening to music, but the microphone and build quality are not as good as genuine AirPods. Most fake AirPods have physical buttons instead of touch sensors, which can be uncomfortable.
If you’re after true quality, I recommend the genuine version of AirPods.
Nevertheless, the AirPods concept is intriguing; wireless headphones that gently rest in your ear, without annoying cables or attachments. Today, I’ll be taking a look at some fake AirPods to see how they hold up when compared to the originals.
Be careful. There are lots of fake products out there. I had an experience buying a fake PS4 controller before, and it did work, but the quality was much worse than the real version. I imagine the fake AirPods are about the same.
A quick reminder:
When it comes to buying brand-name equipment online, make sure to do it either from the company’s official website or their official store on an online marketplace.
Avoid buying AirPods from AliExpress, Alibaba, or other Chinese websites because they’re almost always fake. Third-party sellers often sell knock-off versions that are subpar or flat-out scams, which are often removed from Amazon.
Best Fake AirPods:
Price range: Under $50
At first glance, these wireless earbuds by HSPRO look almost exactly the same as AirPods. It’s only when you take a closer look that you realize the design is slightly different. Still, they work about the same as AirPods.
- Bluetooth 5.0
- 3 Built-in mics
- Touch controls (answer calls, previous track, voice assistant, etc.)
- Up to 5 hrs. of playback time
The case is charged by micro-USB. The audio quality on these earbuds is actually quite good, with strong bass and good Hi-fi audio. One issue people seem to run into is the earbuds disconnect randomly, which can be annoying when listening to music. Also, these are not waterproof.
Overall though, a decent pair of fake AirPods. They can pair with pretty much any device too, whether it’s Apple, Samsung, or Windows 10.
Price range: Under $50
These earbuds are a cute light-pink color, a nice gift for girls. The design is pretty much the same as you might expect, except these ones have silicone tips, which help secure them to your ear canal and improves audio. The earbuds are interesting because they have some cool features you wouldn’t normally expect from budget earbuds.
- 5.2 Bluetooth
- 2 built-in microphones
- Up to 6 hours of playtime
- Charged with USB-C
- IPX8 waterproof
- Each earbud works independently
As for the audio quality, it’s decent. The silicon tips block out outside noise, so you can really focus on the audio. It uses a 6mm dynamic stereo driver. Honestly, the audio quality is comparable to most headphones. They do crackle a little bit when you press the control buttons though.
On that note, the control buttons are physical buttons, not touch like with AirPods, so they require a bit of pressure. You can usually hear a loud click in your ear too, so that can be a little bothersome.
In general, these are great earbuds and a very good alternative to AirPods. The pink color, silicon tips, and rubber finish are nice too.
Price range: Under $40
If you’re looking for a really budget-friendly version of wireless Airpods, these are a good choice. You can also choose between white or light pink. These are pretty much the same as other in-ear wireless headphones.
- Bluetooth 5.0
- Active Noise Cancelation
- 5 Hours of Playtime
- IPX 5 Waterproof
- Button controls
- Built-in Mic
So you get most of the same features as AirPods but at a fraction of the price. Granted the build quality is not the same but for music and whatnot, it should be good enough. The sound quality on these earbuds was actually quite good.

Are Fake AirPods Dangerous?
Fake AirPods can be dangerous because the volume can be much higher than safety standards which can lead to hearing loss. There are also concerns of fake AirPods from China being loaded with malicious hardware but that has not been confirmed. To counter that, you could simply lower the volume to an acceptable level.
The Bottom Line:
While AirPods are great, they’re quite expensive, and not everyone has the budget for them. The good news is most fake AirPods are good enough for listening to music while outdoors or commuting to work.
My final advice is to consider your financial situation. If you need the best of the best, go with the official AirPods. If you want some comfortable wireless in-ear headphones, there are lots of cheaper alternatives out there.
While a knock-off version of AirPods won’t make you fit in with the cool kids, at least you can listen to music without worrying about self-tangling headphone wires. I personally prefer to save $100 or more by getting a budget-version. I imagine Apple sells AirPods at an incredible markup because they have brand recognition.
